Consultation on assisted suicide - 4 December 2009

The government has recently proposed to relax the rules on when people should be prosecuted for assisting suicide. The government is now holding a public consultation on what factors should be used in the decision as to whether to prosecute somebody or not. Anybody is allowed to give their opinion.

The Catholic bishops have asked that as many people as possible respond to the consultation, to ensure that the law remains strongly against those who assist suicide and that the law doesn’t implicitly allow euthanasia. In order to respond you just need to download a questionnaire from the Crown Prosecution Service and email back a completed version.
