On 21st February more than 200 people attended a
meeting in Dublin's city centre entitled "Society? Church?
It's a question of Education" inspired by Fr. Giussani's
book "The Risk of Education".
The meeting was chaired by Margaret Biondi, representing Communion
and Liberation in Ireland. The first of the speakers was John
Waters, writer and columnist, who spoke about his personal journey
in faith and how Fr. Giussani's book "The Risk of Education"
provided the answers to his own questions. Next to speak was Dr.
Holly Peterson, a university lecturer and teacher from Sacramento,
California. She outlined research she had conducted in America
which showed that many teachers have failed to match the expectations
and needs of their students and how Fr. Giussani's method, as
described in the book, is the answer to these needs. The final
speaker was the Archbishop of Dublin, the Most Reverend Diarmuid
Martin. We include here the full interventions of the Archbishop
and John Waters.
